Can anyone help with some information about 800 ITW please as I have not been able to find anything. I have come across a "medallion" amongst my father's effects, showing 800 ITW on one side, together with various (i assume) regimental emblems.

On obverse it shows, (edited for brevity!) 1944-45 Le Hamel; La Diliverande; Mesnil; Amiens; Eindhoven; Verden; Brunswick.

I have some detail of service record (RAOC) - mostly I cannot make much sense of it- but shows
"Unit Redes. 800 Inf (Tfs??) w/s 28 Sept 1944 (North Wet Europe".

Any information would be much appreciated,

    regards, David

i believe the TFS is is Task force support, hope this sheds a little light onto it for you. i have gotten the numbers of the diaries for you below, if you cant get to kew in london think about asking Drew or Lee who will get you them at a fraction of the cost of what the archives charge

    diaries

Thank you all for your help and prompt replies.

I think the Tfs, having looked again, should be read as Trps (per the diary link from Hutchie)

As irony would have it I am going to Kew today (the Gardens!) as my aunt lives there.

Never realised such records were available - ignorant novice researcher, that's me!

It's worth the trip! I spent a whole day there researching my grandfather, I would suggest you allow yourself at least a day to gain the full benefit of the visit

If you need any more assistance please ask :)
