While this is an intriquing subject and wonderful pictures etc - I get the feeling of an old phrase running through my mind and it is the very old "Caveat Emptor" - strange isn't it

    Cheers

    Steve,

I have to agree with both you and Tom Canning.

For what it was worth I gave my advice early on seeing the request, only now to find the thread being only a Mercenary means to obtain cash, nothing at all really to do with this forum except for Historical interest.

    Regards

    Paul,

I tried to take that and other things into consideration, then the words new car were mentioned.

I began mildly suspicious as I always do when someone's first aim is to sell something, and went straight to the ebay page - but can't see anything dodgy whatsoever. If anything the feedback on dsj's page is rather reassuring.

Selling photographs is entirely legitimate and there are many on this and other military/history related boards that buy them and will continue to do so, making it an entirely logical place to raise the subject. We are not a 'sales' board and I'd never allow it to become a primary function but I have no problem with any grown-up member making his or her own decisions on private deals. If I felt the reputation of the board was threatened by some 'dodginess' I would remove the offending articles and have done so on a few occasions.

The watermarking is normal for those with an intention to sell and at least we get to browse through 'em and see a few nice 'new to the market' shots. Dsj is sharing a sight more than many others with worse pictures to sell.

As to the value of a roll of WW2 negs with good shots of vehicles etc. - How long's a piece of string? Which is why auction seems the safest bet for all concerned to me.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I was impressed to see pictures very similar to those in the ATB book "Blitzkrieg in the West" from pages 467 to 470.
The ones with 321 being towed off the old railway & the formation parked up in the Grande Vallee.
    Thanks for showing them dsj.
I can't afford them, I'm buying a new car myself.

    dsj,
Are there any pictures from St Valery en Caux June 1940 in those negatives?

Your visual memory's not half bad is it mate - looking at the relevant pages that definitely looks like more shots of the same location/event.

    dsj,
Nothing wrong with wanting to buy a new car.
If I had enough money I'd buy the films.
    I haven't sorry.
Hope you do find a buyer.
    Good Luck.

Is the photographer's name Eric Borchert?
He took the other pictures like the ones you have, he was in a Propaganda Kompanie, some of his negatives were captured by French Army in 1945 and are now in the ECP Armee , in Paris.

    Dsj,
I was not meaning to be disrespectful.
I truly hope that you obtain as much cash as you can obtain for your memorabillia.

I still think that a respectable auction house, that may specialise in Military memorabillia, is your best way forward.

An auction with just WW2 Memorabillia will attract collectors from far off and can only end with you getting more money.

When people really want your collection they will push up the bidding. You will then be the winner.

    Regards
    Tom
