Looking at information on the below gent as I am doing a talk on a number of the graves in Hedon Rd Hull but can’t find much on WW2 fallen. The info below is all I have https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2402181/james-richardson/ Private 7385049 James Richardson, Royal Army Medical Corps , died 31st May 1942 aged 22. son of Alfred & Martha of Hull. TIA
I fear you will have to wait till those with access to British newspaper archives come along. The only odd item was that the gravestone came from a Brighton source.
Had a scoping look at likely Hull Daily Mail offerings around the dates, but nil entries seen; slightly surprised. Free BMD has a Death entry for the local registration of a 22 year old James Richardson in the right year/quarter and extrapolating backwards, if born in the Sculcoates catchment, mother may have previously been a Wilson, Russell or Naylor. Any other family graves nearby that might offer clues or periodic visitations? Inscription "He gaveth his life" does not really imply natural causes. Not on 150 Field Ambulance TA Roll of Honour 150th Field Ambulance WW2 Roll of Honour I think there was another local RAMC TA unit as another option. However, there is a J Richardson on the Stoneferry Roll of Honour: https://www.suttonandwawnemuseum.org.uk/pics/nov12-18-21.jpg at Sutton which may be worth following up?
Thank you for all the time you have put in to looking at this gent. I have a number of gents from WW2 that I am doing a talk about and find it very difficult to find info on them. There is BNA which does sometimes give a glimpse of their life and death but not much else unless you pay to get their records. again thanks for looking
Sorry came from a Brighton source??. I have looked at BNA but nothing at all. Nothing on any Roll of Honour site and only thing I can find is on Forces war records but I don’t have a subscription for that unfortunately.
Gunner400, The Brighton item is on the headstone contract note: https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/f...etails/2402181/james-richardson/#&gid=2&pid=1
