    Hello everyone.
I'm filming a WW2 d day veteran next week. He served with teh 73rd Anti tank, 198 battery.
Landed on d day went all the way into Germany.
He was a wireless operator in an M10 tank destroyer.
I'm simply asking does anyone have any info on M10's and, or any particular questions for him.
The filmed interview will be given to IWM, Tank museum in Dorset. and a few others in Europe.
    Cheers

I have quite a lot of information about M10s and their use in the Normandy campaign and would be interested in asking some questions too!

I have a question you could ask for me if you don't mind.
I would like to know if 73rd Anti-Tank carried names on their M10's and if so what were they and can he recall any or their census numbers.

    cheers

    Kevin

The 73rd did a lot of work in support of 50th Division, which I wrote about. Please give your veteran my best wishes.

    Hi
Yes they did give names to the M10's.
Burt, the veteran was in the 198 battery
K troop. He was K2. they called the M10 the King of Clubs.
4 M10's in troop so it was king of clubs, hearts, spades etc.
I have a picture of Burt in his M10 with King of clubs written across the front.
Love to know what you wrote about the 50th Division.
My grand father was in the 73rd, a 17lb static gun. He was a Sargent.
I'm still in touch with Burt and will pass on your regards.
I'm just off to Nijmegen to do some more research.
contact you when I get back
    cheers

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for that. When you say "written across the front" do you mean the picture or the M10. If you mean the M10 where abouts is it written. If the name is on the M10 then that would make the others "official" too and would be another 4 to add to the 4900 + names seen on WWII tanks and vehicles carrying British census numbers.
    Can you post the picture?

    cheers

    Kevin

for some reason this site is so bad at sending images.
I'd love to know more about your writing on the 50th.
