HI, After a very long wait I've finally received my granddad's service record. He spent most of the war as a driver IC in 724 722 AW company. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the regiment, what exactly AW companies did or where I might find a war diary or other information. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Aw, so near and yet...thank you for this, Richelieu. I tried all variations but not yours! However, my GD transferred to 670 AW coy on 17.5.45 so the diaries you found aren't relevant. Using your search I found 2 diaries for the 670 but they cover the period GD was in the 724s! Anyway, thanks for the help, much appreciated.

My mistake - I should have typed 722, not 724. I'm sorry for the confusion.

Granddad served from 29.4.40 through to 16.12.45.
Between March 41 and Nov 43 he was MEF,
from Nov 43 to Mar 44 CMF,
March 44 to July 44 back in the UK
and July 44 to Dec 45 BLA.

No idea what that means exactly but Sudan, Egypt, Italy, and Germany are all mentioned on his record sheets
