I am wondering if anyone has the relevant War Diaries, documents, histories, that could answer my questions below please:

    1) Where were 7 Bomb Disposal Coy, Royal Engineers, during January 1944?
    2) Was Corporal Malvin Wardorf Palmer, 1921919, who is buried at Lanreath in Cornwall, the soldier who was killed on 28th January 1944 during the clearance of one of the minefields at Polridmouth near Fowey (on the Menabilly Estate)? Palmer's headstone states he was in 7 BD Coy.
    3) If not, then who was? The Cornwall Constabulary War Diary states that one soldier was killed and another was injured when a mine exploded during clearance of one of the minefields at Polridmouth.

    Any assistance, gratefully received.

Not sure off the top of my head where 7 BD Coy were based, though later in the summer of '44 they lost 3 members in an air raid in Plymouth.
You might also be interested in Sapper James Ernest Hall also of 7 BD Coy killed a few days earlier on 24 January 1944, on a Devon minefield.

The death certificates, or local coroner's records, might provide a location?
