• Bonhams : An important Second War period Grenadier Guards swagger/sword stick - "Godfrey Eben Pike, DSO and MBE joined the Grenadier guards in August of 1935 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, promoted Captain in August 1943 and Brigade Major 1st Guards Brigade 1941-1943, acting Lieutenant-Colonel November 1943 to 8th February 1944, then Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel through to June 1945. While appearing several times in the Regimental History Pike gained his DSO for "immense initiative" in finding then breaching a gap in the German Sigfried Line taking British troops onto German soil on 8th February 1945. The MBE was awarded for distinguished services in North Africa and his MID for Italy."
