    Hello All,

Does anyone happen to know what the 5th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry, were doing from the outbreak of war until November 1940. I know they were a pre-war TA battalion and that during this period they remained in the UK but would like to find a little more detail if anyone can say what sort of duties they were engaged in and where.

Any help, as always, greatly appreciated,

    Cheers

Here is a summary of the period from Molesworth's regimental history for the 5th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry:

    Hi

Following on from the recent posts, I am also trying to get hold hold of information on the activities of the 5th Battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry during WW2, from January 1940 through to the end of the war. My wife's father served, I believe, as a regimental policeman for 3 years and as a regimental signaller for two years, but that's the limit of our information.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    regards
