    Clive -
    I find it very strange that the 23rd October 1942 passed without comment- anywhere that I looked and hopefully we will have more to say about it next year for the 70th Anniversary of the opening of what is known as the third battle of El Alamein - which was the long awaited "Turn of the Tide" in which we never lost another Battle and led to the final victory of that war.

    This poor chap lost his life the day after the main barrage and attempt to get the Tanks though the gaps and they and the Infantry took a terrible beating...
