The above man is remembered on the Sawtry War Memorial as that was the home of his parents. He was killed in the grenade accident on 29 May 1944 at Dymchurch that has been the subject of discussion elsewhere on the Forum. I am researching the incident for the Sawtry History Society and would very much like a photograph of his headstone in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery if anyone has one, please? (The links to the images that were on Imageshack in the earlier posts are no longer working.)

Thank you, CL1 - much appreciated, and will certainly make my research more meaningful.

Thank you, davidbfpo - yes, I have followed up all the mentions of the SLI's tragic accident in the forum.

In appreciation of the help I was given above and for the information of anyone else who might be interested, I have since discovered that Robert's widow, Hilda Mary Ketteringham (nee Williams) married again the following year to one of my own distant relatives through marriage, Albert Edward Wright, from Sawtry. They lived in Poole, Dorset, until their deaths, Albert in 1979 and Hilda in 1995.
