    Hello Ann,
I am assuming the family had someone research the circumstances of Fredericks death ? The document mentions a recce patrol which removed charges from a bridge ? I took the liberty of sending the sheet over to a former member of this forum (Verrieres) he replied that he couldnt comment on the `patrol` report as he was not aware of it . He also stated that Cpl Gibbins died in the shelling of the cross roads . The War Diary stating:-
"Tac Hq and "S" Company had just moved into a field west of the level crossing when the area was shelled for several minutes ...Casualties were 6 Dead + wounded" .
"There`s patrol reports in the diary but not from the beginning of September so whoever researched for the family must have another source other than the War diary as I could find no mention of a bridge having its charges removed ,indeed there is reference to a delay due to a blown up bridge? So cannot help on that score .Sorry." Heres the page from the diary"

I also sent over a couple of your images . He had a copy of the news cutting which he believed may have been `reversed` as the cap badge was over the `right` rather than the `left` eye ? So he sent back the image he had worked on (switched horizontally and `new` cap badge added. He also did a little work on the small image in the frame with his medals ? Both below for you.

Thank you so much for this. Some years ago my aunt’s husband had asked a friend if he could find anything out about her brother and that was the result….I don’t know where he got the information from and can’t ask him now as he died a few years ago. I love the photo of him the right way round ! I shall print it and frame it for my aunt. You have all been so kind-if/when I eventually get his service records I’ll let you know what they reveal. Thank you all Ann
