Yes, by an American captain of SHAEF before the invasion of SICILY.

Yes, during training.

Secret Field Police, Artena, Gestapo Rome and Oppeln and DULAG LUFT, Oberursel


4. ESCAPES attempted:
Did yo make any attempted or partly successful escapes? (Give details of each attempt accurately, stating where, when, method employed, names of your companions, wherein when recaptured and by whom. Were you physically fit? What happened to your companions?)
Escaped in the line of March when STALAG 383 was marched out on April 16th 1945, joined with 71ST AMERICAN INF. DIV. on April 20th in a wood near RENNA, BAVARIA, 50 miles from Camp.
2 unsuccessful attempts were made io April 16th

6. COLLABORATION with enemy:
Do you know of any British or American personnel who collaborated with the enemy or in any way helped the enemy agains other Allied Prisoners of War? (Give details, names of persons concerned, camps, dates and nature of collaboration or help given to enemy).
A British N.C.O. in STALAG LUFT 7 made a statement to the German authorities stating that I was organising escapes, getting into touch the POLISH underground movement and was a secret service agent, hence 3 months Gestapo at OPPELN.


7. WAR CRIMES
If you have any information or evidence of bad treatment by the enemy to yourself or to others, or knowledge of any enemy violation of Geneva Convention you should ask for a copy of "Form Q" on which to make your statement.

8. Have you any other matter of any kind you wish to bring to notice?
On April 1st 1944 while in ROME, 2 Gestapo officials took me with 3 other parachutists to a NAHKAMPFSCHULE, 14 kms from ROME near the VIA CASILINA to have me shot, only the fact that we had a Red X parcel with us saved us. The man responsible was OBERSTURMFÜHRER SS WOLFF of Gestapo ROME.
