Hi My father was admitted to the 53rd General Hospital in Haifa, Palestine, from 24th to 30th April 1944. Some Googling found a wartime postcard of the 53rd General Hospital on ebay below. Written on the postcard itself was that the 53rd General Hospital was a former Italian Hospital. http://viewitem.eim.ebay.dk/PALESTINEHAIFAITALIAN-HOSPITALBRITISH-MILITARY-HOSPITALWW2/251274962437/item/index.en-US.html The link below is a Google street map view of the current Italian Hospital in Haifa, Israel and as you can see, they are a pretty good match. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=106%20hameginim%20haifa&hl=en&ll=32.822545%2C34.988347&spn=0.003043%2C0.006539&sll=53.800651%2C-4.064941&sspn=8.765439%2C26.784668&hnear=Sderot%20HaMeginim%20106%2C%20Haifa%2C%20Israel&t=m&z=18&layer=c&cbll=32.822545%2C34.988347&panoid=5gRy1O67Ox1QWycTbsGQ8w&cbp=12%2C25.4%2C%2C0%2C4.95 If only I could find out why he was admitted in the first place.
