Morning Al and have you had a chance to look at any other pages of the War Diary and did you see the name of my father, Lt M.M. Duncan anywhere? He was there from say March 1940 to March 1941. Many thanks again in advance, Murdo

Good afternoon Al (if I may) and did you create an album in The Gallery after all? If yes, under what title please. Many thanks in advance, Marie

    Marie53,

If you hover over AlJones's avatar you can view his declared profile, it shows he was last logged in here in May 2023 and you can see links to his content. One long thread appears to duplicate the little that is here: War Diary: 4 Bn Welch Regiment, June - August 1944

You cannot use the 'Private Conversation' option until you post five times, so next I will send him a message to return to thsi thread.

Hi Marie - can I help you at all - I assume you are looking for the copies of the 4th Welch battalion war diaries? Just to let you know it is rare for any individual to be named below the rank of Capt/Lieutenant. A battalion consists of about 800 men .and there will be about four company's in it with support etc.

Hi David and can you tell me please how I can enquire about the beginning of a career of a Lt Ernest Edward Hackett 224619 who was commissioned to the King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) probably in January 1942? I know that he was killed near Tiddim near Imphal in March 1944 when seconded to the 1st Battalion West Yorks Regiment. Many thanks in advance.

    Marie,

I would suggest a new thread for Lt. Hackett, in the arena: Searching for Someone & Military Genealogy

For the title His full name, DoB, Serial No and regiment. Then tell us what you know, even if what you have posted is it. Then the experts can start. Research tips by PM next. Got to go.
