Hi there, I am looking for information from this unit in the period end of 1944 until July 1945. I wonder where they were during that period, especially in spring 1945.. One of the military I am interested in died in an accident in May 1945 and is buried in the Netherlands. There seems to be a War Diary WO 171/8205.
It concerns John Henry Gray 883381 buried at Overloon War Cemetery
Could anyone be of help? With great thanks, Anny

If you can identify the soldier buried then the experts here can do their bit: name, service number, unit and the CWGC link please.

No-one appears to hold the cited WD.

There is only one thread that mentions them: RA Service records help

Some say it is Regimental Holding Unit and the site I rely on says it is Reinforcement Holding Unit. From: WW2 Abbreviations and Acronyms | Researching the Lives and Records of WW2 Soldiers

A little on: Reinforcement Holding Unit | Researching the Lives and Records of WW2 Soldiers

If you search online with: "31 Reinforcement Holding Unit" there a few hits, only glanced at them.

His tracer card states died in Traffic Accident, so he could have been anywhere in Holland.

Thanks for sending. He seems to have been at this reinforcement unit. He ws buried at Margraten before he was reburied in Overloon. That's why I am looking for the WD around that time....
