So I have been reading some great articles on here regards 2TAF in NW Europe and I'd like to ask for some help... I have a 1944 Commer Q2 15cwt truck that I am restoring, it was supplied as a chassis cab under contract 294/23/6164, this is stamped on the bulkhead plate in the cab. In the back of the cab we have a metal printed lubrication chart titled "Commer 15cwt AM Load Carrier (Q2)". We found the vehicle in France and managed to repatriate her to the UK for restoration. We are told that she was sold locally after the war and she remained in the area her whole life. We have found that the only RAF airfield in the area was B37 Corroy-Tours en Vimeu. I'm trying to research two things here, firstly, what body would the Commer have been fitted with for the RAF and what would a 15cwt be used for around an airfield? She is simply a chassis cab now so no indication is given as to what she was used for. She isn't a radio truck as they were coach built cabs, she isn't a heater truck as she doesn't have a pto fitted. Its interesting that she has 3 gun racks fitted in the cab and also the roof has a cupola?? Secondly, I'd like to find out more about B37 Corroy, are there any surviving photos of the airfield etc?
