    History of the death of my uncle at Termolli 3rd Oct 1943 2nd Battalions lancs fusiliers.
    I have read the Battleaxe book but confused where he could have actually been killed
    Any help much appreciated

    In short, the battalion crossed the river at Campomarino and was ordered to occupy the ridge at grid reference 8173. At 4pm they were digging in when five shells landed in the battalion area. Given the lack of any other combat that day I believe this may be when your Uncle was killed.

    Is this him? CWGC and casualty lists state date of death as 5.10.43, he was also wounded North Africa 28.11.42,

    2nd Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers
    Died 05 October 1943
    Age 27 years old
    Buried or commemorated at SANGRO RIVER WAR CEMETERY
    Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. T. A. Seddon, of Preston, Lancashire; husband of Vera Seddon, of Preston.

    Many many thanks ! it sounds like this was the area he lost his life .
    we visited the cemetery where he is buried pre COVID . We will visit again next year and visit the villages about on the map .

    If it was the 5th October 1943 the location is different and is just outside Termoli (now built on).
