As you know this is a few years to late for me and I don't have the Regts history to check. Does anyone (Stolpi?) know where the factory was at grid 990383 and does it still exist today? Any pictures of the area or fighting in 1945 would be great. I'm looking into some additional info for someone I know who had a relative killed on the 1st March and believe he was with A Coy. He's buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. WO 171/5231 2 Lincs Regt. Jan-Sept 1945
Using Co-ordinates translator, it comes up with a place called Kervenheim. It has a factory just to the side of the spot indicated. Look at Google Earth Andy and it's in the area to the East of the Reichwald Forest area. Not exactly sure where the 3rd Division were at this time.
Here is the section from the regimental history on 1-2 March 1945. It also includes a map of the area.

I have comments to make on the three pictures appended to Post no. 5. 1. The map is not contemporary but dates from 1954. 2. The following have been identified in the photo taken by the tower; the central Churchill Mk VI belongs to HQ Troop, 4 Coldstream Guards, 6 Guards Armoured Brigade. The Churchill on the right belongs to Francis Holdsworth-Hunt of 4CG, and the scout car to Hans Veenbrink, the Dutch liaison officer with 4CG. 3. The troops dashing across Schlossstrasse in Kervenheim are not from 2 Lincolns. They are L/Cpl Peter Gould and Pte Duffill of 17 Platoon, D Company, 1 Royal Norfolks. They were reenacting the battle on March 2 for the benefit of Sgt Carpenter. Tony
To confirm Stolpiās map, here is GSGS 4414 Germany 1:25,000, Sheet 4403 (Udem), 1944 Edition. Regards, Richard
