Hi Geoff, 6th Airborne,on xmas eve 1944 took part in the battle of the bulge, and then in March 45 were heavily involved in Operation Varsity(the Rhine crossing) I can recommend Peter Harclerodes book "go to it" its a comprehensive history of 6th Airborne,i saw a copy on e-bay not long ago. Good luck! Rob

There was a 2nd Parachute Battalion A 2nd Parachute Brigade A 6th Parachute Battalion A 6th Airlanding Brigade A 6th Airborne Division Some served in NW Europe and others in the Meditterranean in WW2....... Do you have access to his service record by any chance? If he joined late 1944 and was in the 2nd Btn who were building up after Arnhem, he would not have seen any combat but gone to Norway after VE Day......then things get a little murky as men who had only a small amount of service were swapped with demobbies and a lot of the short timers ended up in Palestine in different battalions......
Sorry realised I meant to say that the 1st parachute Brigade of which 2nd Btn was part went to Denmark not Norway...the rest of the Division went there......
could it be that your dad was in 2nd Batt Ox and Bucks as part of 6th Airlanding Brigade??? appears the only 2/6 can find The Rhine Crossing if your dad went to palestine, it maybe that he was too young to be posted to the far east (had to be 19 yrs old +)

Hi Everyone, does anyone have any nominal rolls for 2 Para in Palestine 46-48? Or any War diaries for 2 Para same period. I am searching for info regarding my grandfather, i have just found his Palestine Medal card from Ancestory.co.uk. However i would like to Know what company he served on. 6395606 Sgt CH Upperton. Thanks in Advance Steve
Can confirm 2nd OX & Bucks were part of 6th Airlanding brigade...My late Uncle was with them on D-day, landed by Horsa (wounded D+6 and shipped back to Blighty) then at the Bulge at Xmas time then at the Rhine crossing and ended up in Palestine before de-mob. Graham
