I see there's a space at the bottom, Clive! I have 50 men and women whose names are not on my local memorial which is something I'm trying to address.

    Hi (again)

The answer may be because he married Ella Howell, a nurse at the Birmingham Infirmary, Western Road, Birmingham on Saturday 5 August 1939. (They had a son, Charles Roger, who was born on Sunday 4 June 1944.)

He was, however, educated at Cleobury Mortimer Elementary School and The College (Secondary) School at Cleobury Mortimer, later attending St. Paul’s Training College for teachers at Cheltenham.

He is on the Birmingham RoH.

A quick reply from the Parish Council:

"Thank you for taking the time to get in contact with the information.
As treasure of our local British Legion and an ex serviceman, I will forward this to our secretary and bring it up at our next meeting in December.
I will of course keep you informed of any progress. "

Robert Northwood is commemorated on the War Memorial in the graveyard of St Mary's Church, Neen Savage, DY14 8JU, near Cleobury Mortimer. I attach an article that I wrote about the War Memorial for the Vital Link, the Neen Savage newsletter.

Looks like a very rare book - WorldCat lists only one copy, and that's in New York. IWM looks like your best hope Graeme.

Graeme has been trying to gather information on this officer at least since 2012, as there are four I think other threads and appeals for help!
