    Flannigan James – Private 2886954 – Cameron Highlanders 1st Battalion.

    James, born about 1912 in Coatbridge, son of Joseph and Mary, resided at 63 North Jackson Street, Coatbridge.

    Private Flannigan had enlisted with the Gordon Highlanders when he married Annie Muldoon, a 21-year-old silk factory worker, who resided at 27 Glencleland Road, Craignuek, Wishaw, on the 15th of October 1941, in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Craignuek. They later resided at 111 Sheildmuir Street, Craignuek, Wishaw. James was employed as a miner before enlisting.

    Private Flannigan enlisted in 1940 and was sent overseas in 1942. He was killed in action on the 6th of May 1944, during the Battle of Kohima, in India.

    James is buried in Kohima War Cemetery, India, 5.G.10.
