27th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.A. (T.A.) HQ: Newark 95th Bty: Cantler’s Yard, Clacton (Harwich and Bawdsey) 96th Bty: Sutton Lodge, Hornchurch 107th Bty (290th Tp: Grantham; 291st Tp: Cottesmere; 292nd Tp: Wittering) The regiment formed part of 32nd AA Brigade in September 1939 and in February 1941. 113th was added in early 1940 and 6th Battery on 18 January 1944. The regiment arrived at Port Tewfik, Egypt on 10 October 1941 with 6th, 113th and 149th Batteries. It was sent to Mersa Matruh and was in action under 12th AA Brigade on 6 November. It served under this brigade as part of 8th Army until May 1943. It returned to the United Kingdom at the end of 1943 and served as the Light AA Regiment of XXX Corps in Northwest Europe from June 1944 until the end of the war.
