From Algiers to Austria by Cyril Ray , the history of the 78th Division, pages 170-171.

It was now decided to make no further attempt on Spaduro until Acqua Salata had been taken , so the Argylls were ordered to attack and capture Acqua Salata on the evening of October 20-21. The artillery fire began at 6.40 and twenty minutes later ''R'' and ''B'' Companies moved forward in the evening dusk.
Some shells landed on the companies as they were crossing the causeway , causing casualties, but the Argylls were soon fighting their way up the hill.
They set on the Germans with Tommy guns, bayonets, and bare hands, hurling some of them down the hillside in the darkness.
By eight o'clock the first objectives had been taken.
''X'' Company , under Capt Charters , was then sent forward through ''R'' Company to capture the farm at the foot of the ridge. They paused within fifty yards of the farm while a section under Cpl George and L/Cpl Kaminsky MM , a fluent German speaker , was sent forward to reconnoitre. A wounded German by the side of the track willingly told them the way , but a few minutes later a German patrol opened fire at five yards range. It was plain that the farm's defences would have to be cleared methodically , and one platoon , under Sgt Bell MM , killed three Germans , took four others prisoner , and knocked out two machine gun positions , and by 10.15 ''X'' Company was able to fire its success signal. ''Y'' Company went forward with reserves of ammunition and by midnight Acqua Salata was in our hands.
