Killed at 2330hrs 15th December 1939 when in a 'motor smash'. The truck he was in overturned and their was no other casualties. Looking at the battalions war diary it looks like he may have been in a party of 80 men returning to Izel from a Royal Engineer Cinema Show at Beaumetz.

Incidently the cemetery where Grdsm Griffiths is buried, Bienvillers Military Cemteery, contains only 16 Second World War graves all are from before May 1940 when the Germans invaded.

Grdsm Griffiths funeral took place on 19th December 1939.
