2nd Btn Loyals were in the Far East captured at Singapore. If he was in 1st Btn they were part of exercises to bring 1st Div up to battle readiness. This took place mainly in the north of England from Redesdale Northumbria to Scotland which might account for his burial/cremation in Woking. Otherwise he was in one of the remaining Battalions who were in the UK until D Day. I know very little about them. At a guess Ancestry or FMP might be a good source of information. Not sure what records the Regimental Museum or National Archives might hold.
