Allan George Eakins – Guardsman 2701796 – Scots Guards 1st Battalion.

George, born on the 8th of May 1920, son of Alexander and Dora, and the brother of Alexander, resided at 123, East Thornlie Street, Wishaw. He was educated at Wishaw High School, employed by the Burgh Electricity Accounts Department, and was studying for his accountancy examinations. As a boy, he was identified with the Y.M.C.A. Boy Scouts and was one of the personnel of the No. 5 First Aid Post. He played football for the Post football team, for Wishaw Amateurs, and was a member of the Wishaw Methodist Church.

Guardsman Allan enlisted with the Scots Guards on the 22nd of June 1943. Involved in the fighting at Cassino, Italy, he was killed in action on the 9th of June 1944.

George is buried in Bolsena War Cemetery, Italy, III.D.11.
