2659001 Guardman Frank GRIFFIN, 2 Company, 2 Coldstream Guards

    hi looking for any information on ww2 coldsteam guards 2nd company 2 ,,,as my gandad frank Griffin on left in photo was a guardman 2659001 any photos etc many thanks

    Welcome aboard. His Service Number and his name have not appeared here before your post.

    I know you posted elsewhere he:
    He did survive the war; according to the CWGC records.

    We always recommend applying for his Service Record, it is the definitive record. Yes, it can take time as records are in the process of moving from the MoD to the National Archives. Fully explained in a PM next.

    There are a small number of threads here on the battalion id'd by using "coldstream guards" + "2nd battalion" site:ww2talk.com I made the search quite wide, so some results refer to other Guards battalions.

    His name appears within a public Facebook group: 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards 1939-1945

    There is a linked website that could help: The 2nd Bn. Coldstream Guards at War 1939-1945 I have only skimmed the introduction.

    yes thanks i have be in touch with all above ...after he was discharge he come back to Coupar Angus perthshire...when he was in training where he had met my granny in 1942 got married and passed away in 2000 at 85
