The post was situated on a bare ridge and covered by other posts. By skilful use of what little cover there was, and by his determination and courage, he was able to shoot up the first German post with this Bren. After the Officer was wounded he went on with the Lance-Sergeant and helped clear the post. He covered the Lance-Sergeant and under heavy fire from other posts killed another German and wounded two more. His determined action and courage and skilful use of fire enabled the patrol to withdraw and provided cover for the Lance-Sergeant while the Officer was being attended to. Signed W.
