    Hi
I am looking through a service record for a soldier who arrived in India from the UK on the 31st of March 1945 and his arrival entry states:

"Arrived BBRC TOS B Company 1 Wing"
the 'Place of Casualty' for this entry is given as 23 ABPO.

I understand that BBRC stands for British Base Reinforcement Camp and 23 ABPO is 23 Army Base Post Office and I assume, (possibly wrongly!) that on arrival in theatre he would have been taken on the strength of B Company 1 Training Wing for acclimatisation etc. as on the 22nd of April 1945 he was posted to 2 Black Watch, his operational unit.

Can anyone confirm whether my reading of the 2 acronyms are correct and if so is anyone able to tell me where he would have been stationed on arrival in India and why his address was given as an Army Base Post Office.

    Thanks

    Mike
