Looking for information on them in the second half of 1940 when they were in Cornwall. I have the War Diary but looking for any personal accounts, books etc that may give more detail.
    Thanks

My father was CSM of this unit and was involved with laying mines on potential invasion beaches. I have little to add but I know he was in charge when a sapper was killed in a minefield. However he was cleared of responsibility by a court of inquiry the next day when the verdict was that it was an accident and no one was to blame. I have a photo of the sergeants at Bude.

    Hi BeeVee

Thanks for the reply. The Sapper was killed at Pentewan I think, near St Austell. I have a copy of the Unit Diary which I would be happy to burn to a CD and send to you if you PM me your postal address. The 224th were in Bude in 1941; I'd be interested in a good quality scanned copy? I started off trying to research their involvement in the Bodmin Stop Line when they were based in Wadebridge in 1940.
    best wishes
