I have been fortunate to add the medals, photos and ephemera belonging to the above. Sadly, George died of wounds 30/31 May 1940. There is a reference to him being buried but clearly after the war, his grave could not be located and he is commemorated on the Dunkirk memorial. I will post more later.
Hi From Army Cas Lists 1939-1945 on FMP Originally stated as part of 17 Artisan Field Company, later corrected to 17 Field Company. From RE Order Of Battle doc I found onlline many moons ago 17th Field Coy RE Regular; 3 Sep 1939: Aldershot; mobilized 3 Sep 1939 with 1st Infantry Division; relieved 2 Nov 1939 and assigned 3rd Infantry Division. Hope this helps Gus
17 Field Company were with 3rd Infantry Division. It's not one of the RE diaries that I have. Rather than a grave not being found, it's perhaps more likely that he was not identifiable after a reinterment.
Rich and Gus thank you for your input. I have, thanks to Drew the W D for 17 Field Company for the entire war.
