Hi Guys, I am searching for info regarding the actions of 2 SAS and apparently troops from Norwegian Troop, No 10 Interallied Commando near Putten on 15-16 April 1945. Three SAS men were KIA on the 15th and 16th. Two are buried at Jonkerbos, one still at Putten. Two Norwegians were KIA and after being buried in Putten, moved to Norway in 1947. Although one source states they were probably part of operation Amherst (????) I think they weren't. The area was liberated a few days later (I believe the 18th). I wonder if anyone here has any info on 2 SAS on these days or Norwegian Troop. Regards, Stevin
Stevin I have pics of the headstones of the two in Jonkerbos, but not the chap at Putten. Do you have a pic of his headstone at all? I am intending to look up the war diaries of the SAS at The National Archives at Kew sometime, but not for a while due to work etc Andy
Hi Andy, No, I don't have the men at Jonkerbos yet. I would be most grateful. I do have the one at Putten. I am preparing to put him on my site, but strangely, I can't find any info on any of the men or the action.
gents, the mystery is solved. These two Norwegians were actually Norwegian Air Force, not SAS or No.5. They were shot down in Feb. 1945.
