    Guy.

I think that this is just the WOs' & Sgts' Mess with just four officers - the Adjutant, the Commanding Officer, the Regt 2IC and the Quartermaster.

    Regards

Just came across this great photograph. My father in law, Bernard Hoggard, is second from the right on the second row back. His great pal from those days, Bert Reason, is on the front row fourth from the left. Something to add to our family tree. Thanks Guy.

    Brian.

If your father in law was in 1 Recce Regt in Jan-Jun 44, that would place him at Anzio.

Grim place to be in the war.

    Thanks Frank for the information.

I am currently putting together a timeline for Bernard Hoggard's service in A Squadron, 1st Recce and although he served a total of 6 years and 4 months, his service records which I obtained from the MOD contain very little about his time in Italy. But for the mention of him being awarded the Italy Star, you would not be aware that he fought in that country. Fortunately the War Diaries for the Regiment which Recce_Mitch has posted have proved to be invaluable.

My Uncle was in B Squadron, 1st Recce. His sad story can be found on line if you Google ' Lt W.R. Watkins '. Although I posted his story some years ago, my research is still ongoing and this is my first post here. Thank you Recce_Mitch for all your help in the past.
