Looking for information on 1st Field Squadron RE for the period 1943 - 1945. I have a shout-out to Drew for their war diaries but I'd be interested in anyone who might have unit photographs or anything of interest for 1st Field Squadron during that period?

    Hi Pete,

The War Diaries are superb detailed accounts, I checked my own fathers RE unit (612FS) this week at Kew and copied much of them, mainly '44 in Normandy.

    Hi Andy,

got your PM and replied mate, sorry for not replying to your PM's from last year mate but I haven't been on in ages and it would seem I'm not getting emial notifications for some reason, there were more than a couple of PM's from 2014 that I hadn't seen, DOH!

Peter, yes I agree War Diaries are superb but I'm also looking for photographs or any other miscellanea / documents related to 1st Fd Sdn for 43-44. I'm researching a couple of officers who were killed towards the end of the war and would like to see what, if anything, I can turn up about them. A shout out on this forum tends to open up all matter of stuff that one just wouldn't find anywhere else. With that, and getting to rub shoulders with such very fine people like Ron Goldstein and Brian Guy, it makes this one of the very best forums on the net.

    Pete
