Just came across this today. Fairly interesting set of photos of the 1940 camapign from the Wehrmacht perspective: Militaria Archive
Those are excellent ! I wonder if the photographer was part of a medical unit? The chap with the white scarf, glasses pops up a lot in them. Anyone know who General Loch was with? All I could find was a link to the Eighteenth Army but not until 1944. Cheers Andy
Cheers Ger, I can't see it being the Eighteenth Army as they never went to the Maginot area in 1940 if memory serves me well. I'll do some digging too later. I think I maybe even able to ID a couple of those aircraft too. A
Here is a picture of him: Militaria Archive This one appears to be Staff Officers if it helps id the unit: Militaria Archive
Looks like it's Herbert Loch, doesn't it? According to the LdW, Loch led the 17. ID in France where he earned the knight's cross.
Cheers Kate, I've been trying to find higher and lower formations of the Div. Were they Army Group A in 1940?
It's all on K's link Andy: 17. Infanteriedivision - Lexikon der Wehrmacht Laufer's referenced this 'Militaria Archive' site before.
