I know that Krafft was in position in Wolfheze, but were did the 5 tanks, 15 half-tracks and infantry come from that opposed 1 PARA around 1900? Six hours after landing of 1 Airborne Division.
From memory from the direction of Deelen....but I think Middlebrook mentions who they were in his chapter on the first day on the actions of the 1st Btn......
Middlebrook says the opposition in this area to the north of Wolfheze came from the Kampfgruppe Weber and Kampfgruppe Von Allworden...Is this what you are looking for?
Just wanted input. Middlebrook got his info from Kershaw and says "probably". I doubt if the tanks belonged to KG Weber (or 9/10 SS Panzer). The resistance was formidable, around 1900. Ede - not far away - housed quite a few German troops. Determining which German units were involved in operation Market Garden, is not an exact science.
The 1 Para report is quite specific that the tanks and half tracks approached crossroads 691811 along the main road from the South East - that's the opposite direction to Ede John
