Hi Margaret, I don't think he was with the Regiment in India. 315862 Leonard Hayward enlisted on 4th May 1926 and was with the 17th/21st in Hounslow, but was one of a draft of 86 ORs transferred to the 9th Lancers on January 5th 1929. The Regiment left Hounslow for Egypt on 12 September 1930 and didn't reach India until 25th October 1932. Len Hayward went onto the Reserve on the 3rd May 1932. Regards, Kevin
Hello Kevin Shannon. Do you have any infomation on the 17/21 Lancers during the out break of the war 1939 until late 1940 please. My grandad Sidney Norton 407545 was a 17/21L until he was transferred to the 24L in December 1940. I know he spent a few years with them in meerut India and I believe he was stationed in Colchester when they returned to England in 1939 So if you do have any piece information id very much like to hear it.
