    AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS.
    Lt. Andrew Anderson, Cam'n Highrs., attd.19th Bn., M.G. Corps.
    For conspicuous gallantry at Ussuna, on 9th September, 1919, in command of a sub-section, of machine guns. When an enemy attack developed along the Koiniaji-TIssuna Road, he promptly got his machine guns into action, and after three hours' fighting dispersed tihe enemy with considerable casualties, capturing seven prisoners.

    Would be interesting to be able to read his papers. 11 Ind Bde did very well during the retreat in the Jebel in January 1942.

    Ussana is on the main road between Murmansk and St Petersburg, in the Karelian Republic of Russia. An episode in the Allied intervention in Russia and the link shows several other officers awards in that campaign.

    The fighting at Ussana was towards the end of the intervention, complete with dissent and protest amongst the British troops including a RM company mutiny. Curiously the 19th MG Corps are not listed as being present on Wiki. See: North Russia intervention - Wikipedia
