    this chap must have been in a reserved occupation to have joined in early '43 - according to his number - done some training - transported to Burma - to die in less than eighteen months....but not

    all that unusual as many were younger at D Day

    Can anyone add anything to Alfred Milner's storey?
    He's another one of fallen commemorated on the Castle Bromwich War memorial I'm researching.

    Tom, he's recorded in 1939 Register as a solderer of electric heaters, doesn't sound like a reserved occupation, but surprising it appears he didn't join up until 1943.
