Although himself wounded in the wrist on the first day Captain HOWARD continued to lead his Company under continuous fire until eight enemy counter-attacks had been successfully beaten off. On 9th November Captain HOWARD was again wound and this time very seriously through both legs and although suffering the greatest pain and exposure he insisted on continuing in Command of his Company thereby setting a magnificent example to all present. This act of gallantry and devotion to duty can seldom have been excelled in the field and by his complete disregard for his own life Captain HOWARD succeeded in restoring the situation on his Battalion's front.
