Always been puzzled by his clear disappearance after North Africa, and previous replies included his lack of social skills - with General Omar Bradley and who swiftly fell from grace due to criticism by Alexander and Montgomery.

Anderson fell from grace because Montgomery had no regard for him. This went back at least to Dunkirk. See "The Plain Cook and The Great Showman" by Gregory Blaxland, a very good account as you would expect. Walter Bedell Smith once said "Ahh, Ken Anderson. Knew four languages but spoke sense in none of them". A rather dour Scot.
