I am trying to find out how Bombadier Charles Frederick Tyrrell was killed on the 14th August 1944. I can't find a copy of the history. Would any one that has a copy mind checking if he is mentioned?
    Many thanks in advance

Bdr Tyrrell (220) killed and Gnr Harwood (220) died from wounds from 88mm shelling. Bdr Bob Barber , D Troop OP Ack, recalls the circumstances of their deaths:
''We were with 5 Dorsets as usual advancing towards Proussy and worried about a lane being mined, so we turned off and reached the apparent finish line. I drove the carrier into a vacant German tank pit but was ordered to leave as we were exposed and in front of our infantry. We moved to a corner of the field but were spotted by the enemy and 'stonked' . We were all out of the carrier and dropped down. Capt Jack (Gilders) on one side and three of us on the other. I was in the middle . Ernie (Harwood) and Charlie (Tyrrell) received terrible wounds , I got a scratch.''
