Pottered onto these. An Italian, German & US viewpoint for the film, with some nice not-so-long-after seeming veteran recollections, going up to a couple of Generals:
Adam What a load of old BS - the tenth Mountain Div joined from the states LATE on to replace - along with a Negro Division - and a Brazillian division, the seven mainly French divisions which were taken away for the abortive South of France Landings which had been promoted by Stalin to keep us away from breaking through to Poland to keep the Soviets from entering the Middle of Europe - which they finally did for 40 years - raping and pillaging…..before the tenth had fired a shot we had broken the Gothic line at the Foglia River by the 1st September - and as I recall - we started a charge at Pieve to capture Rimini that day 20 miles away but were stopped at the infamous Coriano Ridge by their 1st paras - 26th PZ's and 29th PzGrens for the following three weeks before Rimini fell on the 22nd September….which makes this movie the rubbish it is … Cheers
