Hello to all, can any one shed any light on the above two Coy's? I'm going through a distant relatives service records & it starts with Disembarked : France 16.9.39 Unit No1 Railway Labour Coy, now known as the 10th Aux Military Pioneer Corps, & then attached to the 66th Coy 17.5.40. Then posted ITC 4.7.40.. My questions are as follows, any info would be much appreciated. 1) Are there any quality books, that cover the A.M.P.C. time in France? One may-be interested, in obtaining the War Diary's. 2) When & where the 66th evacuated off the beach? 3) Also where & what the 10th & 66th did in France, or Belgium? May be both, not sure. Thank-you Stu..
WO 167/1246 10 Company AMPC Sept 1939 - June 1940 WO 167/1302 66 Company AMPC Dec 1939 - June 1940 I've got the first diary but not the second. The first was indeed No.1 Railway Labour Company before changing to 10 Company at the end of 1939. During May 1940 10 Company was at Bruz and then Rennes upto the 17th May 1940
You might find this of some use - not my site, came across the site many moons ago looking for other infromation. There are some histories of various AMPC companies at this link, including 10 Coy, but not 66 Coy. They are in English in Word document format but appear to be annontated from the units war diaries(?). http://conflictuel.pagesperso-orange.fr/LGGtemp/France1940.htm IIRC correctly DIGFORCE was part of Beauman Division. There are other threads on this forum that give more information on that subject.
Cheers Kiwi REd One.That's a shame, I can't open the word document on me laptop for the war diary's. Will look up the IIRC DIGFORCE Beauman Division. Stu.
