The war diary of the 1/Fife and Forfar Yeomanry mentions the Welsh Guards were 'removed at 1.00am on 27 May from the Mont de Recollets for 'another task'. Does anyone have the war diary please? If so can you look up where the battalion was withdrawn to? They were back on Mont de Recollets by 10.30pm that same night! I bet there was a great deal of cursing gong on amongst he ranks!

Does this help, from Welsh Guards at War by Ellis, page 12.

From Premesque they were ordered to Cassel , where General Headquarters was to be stationed ; but when they reached Steenvoorde , four miles short of their destination , Cassel was already closely invested by the enemy. They were at once ordered to go to its defence and were soon in position and under fire, but the enemy's attempts to penetrate their line were stopped for the time being and shortly after the Battalion were ordered to withdraw to Houtkerque . They had hardly arrived , however, when they were ordered back to Cassel which was again being attacked.
