Chancing my arm to see if anyone has the unit War Diary for 24/8/44 that they could share, I'm researching Trooper Jeffs who was wounded that day and hoping there may be some mention of an incident that ties in, I believe they were around Lisieux that day. Any unit histories etc that deal with that day would also be useful I see the unit also had a Sgt Garvey and Trooper Stock wounded the same day so possibly all part of the same crew. Tpr Stock was an Austrian Jew and died of his wounds about 6 weeks later and is buried in Glasgow Cheers
Found a list of 1RTR tanks in June 44 and Sgt Garvey was commander of Cromwell T189522 "Anson" of 1 troop A Squadron
Cheers for that, doesn't really give any indication of any trouble encountered on the 24th, not sure where else to look now
Here is an except from: Delaforce, Patrick. Battles with Panzers: Monty’s Tank Battalions: 1st RTR & 2nd RTR. Thrupp, Gloucestershire: Sutton Publishing Limited, 2003. It sounds like there was more action than indicated by the war diary:
Thanks again, there does seem to have been a fair bit of action but nothing obvious on the 24th Trooper Jeffs Service Book
