    Hello to all
I have been trying to find out about my granfather Sgt wilf Hunt of 1/8 lancashire fusiliers and in particular his time and the battalions time at Dunkirk ie war diaries/nominal rolls or anybody who served with the battalion at dunkirk who has any personnal memoirs in print?
I know 1/8 was TA regt I believe he was in the company that operated from the drill hall that was on cross lane, salford, which was demolished after the war. I have photo of him at camp circa 1937. The Brigade the 1/8 LF`s were part of was

    4th Brigade—Brigadier E. G. Warren
    1st Battalion The Royal Scots
2nd Battalion The Royal Norfolk Regiment
    1st/8th Battalion The Lancashire Fusiliers

I know when they returned from france they were sent to fight the japanese, but he did not go with them he was put on other essential war work.
any help or info you have would be much appreciated or could my request be put on any other search sites.
    many thanks
    Best regards
    Roy

Just found this looking for anther Lancs Fusilier battalion. Do you have his service records? I suspect they will say why he was put on essential war work.

PM sent (after thread moved) and can this be moved to the 1940 section please :)
