This is a departure from my norm of building British and Canadian trucks but this US one and a few others have caught my attention recently so decided to give it a go. It is a totally scratch-built model of a Brockway B666 6 Ton Bridge Erector Truck. The wheels and rubber pontoons were kindly cast and provided by Richard Allebone. Les Freathy was also very helpful with lots of info on the vehicle and I used some PE for the grill supplied by Ilian Filipov earlier and which I was able to utilize for this one. My profound thanks to these gents for their kindness. The four Treadway bridge sections were all scratchbuilt as were the saddles which sat on the pontoons. It represents a truck of the 994th Treadway Bridge Company as may have appeared in France in 1944. There is a photo which Les provided showing the same vehicle in Germany in 1945. Pete Marshall did the decals for me and my thanks to him. Hope you like it. Cheers, Neil
Neil, Lovely model and very realisitic, thanks for posting. Neil, Could you post the photo of the original vehicle and a brief of what materials were used in building it?
Thank you all for the kind comments and here are the photo that inspired the build and some prog photos. It is built pretty much with Evergreen and Plastruct sheet, strip, tube and rod with copper hook-up wire and foil material. The plan used was the Geoff Lacey one and numerous photos were referred to along the way. It is largely unseen but the chassis and drive-train detail is mostly there. Cheers, Neil
