Hello Robert, I came across your piece in the course of looking into Walter Carandini Wilson CBE DSO* MC, one time Lt Col and latterly Gp Capt. Walter’s remarkable Service career involved roles in both World Wars and in between; spanning West Africa, France and Flanders, Finland and the Baltic States, Ireland, Egypt, the UK and the Malay States. He was also a capped England Rugby player. Walter was a younger brother of John Carandini Wilson (a third brother having died in 1910) and another cousin of the late Christopher Lee, who features elsewhere on the forum. There is more on John Carandini Wilson at: WILSON, Captain John Carandini, MiD – ANZAC Biographies including details of his Will and NoK …… which may well bear on the quest above …… presumed still extant? Noting the circumstances of John’s death, one wonders whether Abdul the Terrible had a hand in it. A synopsis of Walter Carandini Wilson is at: Royal Leicestershire Regiment which indicates that the Royal Leicestershire Regimental Museum is itself keen to expand its data on Walter, so if any WW2Talk member can assist …….
Hi Quarterfinal Thanks for your reply. I wrote the story for the museum, the Anzac Biographies site is it's site to detail medals etc the museum has. regards Robert
