Wonder if George Whitfield was attached to 50th Division HQ at the time. Just researched my Uncle William Marshall 6th DLI and found he was an acting Lance Corp attached to 50th Div HQ and has the same June 29th Date of Death.

Whitfield was actually originally listed as Killed in Action on 27 June 1942 however the CWGC amended the date[?] He was 8th DLI and buried in his field grave by the Italians who omitted the date of death .

William Marshall died of wounds on the 29th June 1942 having originally enlisted into The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders he was 6th DLI recorded by the CWGC as attached 50th DIV Hq.
